The Bazaarhottest goss around Hawkins High was the awful rumor that the Duffer brothers, who created, direct, and write Stranger Things, were leaving the show. But Netflix is here to turn our world right-side up.
"Don't drop your Eggos," read a tweet from their official U.S. account. "Rumors that the Duffer Bros are leaving Stranger Things after season 3 are false."
Phew. We thought we were gonna have to sick the Demogorgon on someone's ass.
SEE ALSO: 'Stranger Things 2' review: Binge-watching can't disguise how bad this isIt all started with a report from MovieFone, which claimed that a "source with knowledge of the [show's] production" said Stranger ThingsSeason 3 would be the last one for the Duffer brothers.
It went on to state that, "Matt and Ross Duffer's deal with Netflix requires at least two more projects from the prolific talents, and starting to develop and produce one of those is a significant factor behind their eventual parting of ways." Allegedly, the Duffer brothers were seeking to do a different feature film project instead.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
When Mashable reached out to Netflix representatives for more information on the rumor, they said that, "We don't have anything to add beyond the tweet."
The tweet confirms what the Duffer brothers told Vulture last year: there will be at least two more seasons of Stranger Things.
So it appears everyone is keeping their promises because, as Mike told Eleven back in Season 1, a promise is "something you can't break. Ever."
Season 3 of Stranger Things is currently set for an April 2019 air date, with a count of 9 episodes total.
