The teenagers didn’t waste any time and the Delhi Police Control Room received information about the incident, Indian Express reports.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Bhatia immediately verified the caller and informed the concerned agency, shortly after which the flight made the emergency landing.
"After receiving the call from Delhi Police, CISF security personnel immediately conveyed the message to Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) and to the Air Traffic Control (ATC). Within minutes, the GoAir flight, which took off at 7.28 pm from the IGI airport, was identified,” the paper reported, citing sources.
GoAir cited "technical reasons" for the emergency landing, reserving details about the fire. A probe has been initiated in the incident and an aircraft maintenance engineer's license has been suspended till the probe is complete.
