The Watch Illicit Desire (2017)words of House Stark on Game of Thronesare a dire warning about never getting too comfortable, because things can always get worse – and they probably will.
"Winter is coming" has been adapted by many GoT fans as a way to warn others about future scenarios with harmful consequences. Who would have known that among those fans was Indonesian president Joko Widodo?

“All these troubles in the world economy, are enough to make us feel like saying: Winter is Coming,” Widodo said.
The president wasn't talking about the dead coming back to destroy human life, though, but rather the potential consequences of a U.S. trade war with China. Widodo's fear is that the trade war will upend global supply chains, and harm international trade.
We've heard 'Game of Thrones' described as a metaphor for climate change, but this is new.
