When did you last visit the Chrome Web Store?Secret Confessions (2025) Week 8 Highlights Episode 46 Really visited the site, and browsed around, instead of merely downloading that extension you need?
Well, now it might actually be worth it. Google kept the store looking curiously outdated for years, but now the company finally redesigned it to be in tune with its Material You design language. The change was previewed in September, but is now live for everyone.
The new design of the store, which is the place to go to adorn your Chrome browser with new Themes and increase its functionality with Extensions, is very clean and easy to use. There's a search box in the top right, and a tab that lets you choose between the "Discover" home page for the store, or go directly browsing for Extensions and Themes.
The Discover page displays stuff such as top categories, editors' picks, choices based on your previous downloads, and currently hot categories such as AI-powered extensions and dark mode-related add-ons.
You can also filter the various categories by choosing only the ones featured by Google, or those created by established publishers. The Extensions can additionally be sorted by most relevant or highest rated (for some reason, you cannot sort the Themes in that way).
