The chief of Samsung's mobile division, Koh Dong-jin, confirmed to Reuterson Monday that the company would not unveil the Galaxy S8 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which starts Feb. 27.

Although MWC was never officially confirmed as the launch date for the Galaxy S8, many of its predecessors -- including the S7, S6 and S5 -- were launched at the annual event.
The delay is likely due to the numerous cases of the Galaxy Note7 overheating and bursting into flames, which caused Samsung to pull the device from the market and issue an apology and an investigation into what had happened. The results of that investigation were also published today (short version: it's the battery).
Samsung's Galaxy S8 is rumored to have a huge screen-to-body ratio (and no home button), faster performance, waterproof design and a new, smart digital assistant called "Bixby."
