So yesterday Twitter doubled the character limit,Poland upgrading it to 280 and causing a collective nervous breakdown, hot takes, anger, and daring experiments.

Hate it or love it, the feature has certainly its silver linings. And British people, with their deadpan humour, know how to make the best of it.

This, for example, is how Sussex Police decided to use its #280characters:

London Ambulance swiftly followed with its own emoji-laden long tweet:

Scotland Fire and Rescue definitely embraced the argument, and replied:

At that point Dave Wise, police constable in Worcester, pointed out:

Harrow first responders didn't hold back fire:

And even London's Metropolitan Special Constabulary chipped in:
