If you've ever seen Robert Downey Jr. in person,Bengali Archives you know the man does not suffer a fool's fashion gladly.

Always dashing, futuristic, cosmopolitan -- chunky sunglasses you can sorta see through, structured collars and footwear that's probably worth your salary -- the real-life Tony Stark likes to dress like the on-screen Tony Stark. Which is to say, expensively.

So when photos from the Atlanta set of Avengers: Infinity Warwent online Monday, we had questions. Something wasn't quite right about this:

That jumpsuit thingy, with its fireproof weight, industrial piping, stealthy camoflage pattern and heavy hoodie? Too pedestrian to be some form of Stark tech, too workmanlike to be RDJ-approved casual wear, too normal to be a motion-capture getup.

(Can you imagine Robert Downey Jr. in a full mo-cap suit? LOL. He wouldn't be caught dead in something like this, not for all the money at Disney/Marvel):

So what is RDJ wearing?

No one would don those layers in an Atlanta summer, and besides, everyone else is in costume (Banner's sportcoat-and-sneakers look included). One big clue is the chest-piece, obviously not an Iron Man accessory -- it looks like a Transformer head! Is that an Allspark?-- but definitely where an arc reactor goes:

One of the photos from Monday's batch show Downey's double in an elephant T-shirt. Could it be that, just peeking out from his fireman's hoodie?

It's not, though -- another batch of photos over on Just Jaredmake it pretty clear that there's a microphone and a plate where the arc reactor would go under that jacket. And another shot shows dots on his mantle ... and then it becomes clear:

Robert Downey Jr. has his own, stylish mo-cap suit. In fact, this shot confirms it -- Downey is doing the Iron Man hand thing:

And if you thought that Marvel was suddenly issuing fashion-friendly mocap suits to everyone, tell it to this poor guy, also on the Atlanta set of Infinity War:

In all likelihood, RDJ's bulky jacket stands in for the extra girth of his suit, or maybe he was just blocking this scene for a more tricked-out double.

But we prefer the theory where the world's most fashionable male movie star insists that his motion-capture outfit be stylish enough to keep him looking cool in the event of pap photos.

We'll find out for sure when Infinity Warcomes out next summer.
