"AMC is proactively taking action to cut in half the number of tickets that we will make available at all our U.S. theatres," AMC CEO Adam Aron told The Hollywood Reporter. "With this action, we are facilitating the 'social distance' between guests who still want to see movies on a big screen."
Additionally, both theater chains announced extra cleaning and safety measures and their intent to work with the CDC and local authorities on how best to proceed as the COVID-19 situation progresses.
THR also noted updated health measures from Cineplex, which will also cut down seating by 50 percent, "buffer seats" at Alamo Drafthouse, and event suspension for the time being at American Cinematheque.
