Something strange has finally arrived in the neighbourhood. On Monday Sony held a surprise screening of Ghostbusters: Afterlife at CinemaCon in Las Vegas019 Archives and judging by first reactions, the latest installment in the beloved Ghostbusters franchise does look good.
Set 30 years after Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows single mother Callie (Carrie Coon) and her two children Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) after they move to a run-down farmhouse. Of course, there's something strange in their new neighborhood, and they soon find themselves swept up in a paranormal adventure — one that ties back to the original Ghostbusters themselves.
Afterlifehas some big jumpsuits to fill, especially considering the original films still hold a special place in many nostalgic adults' hearts. The first reactions suggest the screening's audience seem to have left satisfied, calling Afterlifea fun film that invokes nostalgia but doesn't get bogged down by it.
