There has been considerable buzz since the teaser of his biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, dropped about a year ago.
And now we have the release date announced by the batting maestro himself.
"The answer to the question that everyone's asking me is here. Mark your calendars and save the date. Sachin The Film releases 26.05.17," Tendulkar revealed on social media.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker James Erskine with music by Grammy-winner A.R. Rahman, the film traces Sachin's 23-year-long career that inspired a billion Indians — as the title aptly captures.
The biopic comes three years after his autobiography Playing It My Way that shattered many records. Besides being the biggest-ever title in Indian sports publishing, it entered the Limca Book of Records for being the best-selling adult hardback across both fiction and non-fiction categories.
A child prodigy who started playing for the country at 16, Sachin scaled heights that few had before him, and is credited for taking India to the brink of cricketing greatness. He went on to become the highest run-scorer in the history of the game. And his '100 Hundreds' are a testimony to his skill, grit and determination.
Now, on to the film that has got people chattering.
