SEE ALSO: These are the 5 most savage 'Game of Thrones' episodes so farThe highly anticipated Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones aired yesterday and fans were getting major Harry Potter vibes.
The audience was introduced to a new character, Archmaester Ebrose, for whom Sam Tarly is apprenticing in The Citadel. Archmaester Ebrose is played by the British actor Jim Broadbent who viewers might recognize for his role as Professor Slughorn in the Harry Potter films.
In the new episode, Sam asks Archmaester Ebrose for access to the restricted section of the library in order to learn more about the accounts of people who have claimed to see the White Walkers. As Harry Potter fans will know, the restricted section of the Hogwarts library is a major part of Harry, Hermione, and Ron's early antics. This reference set off the alarm bells.
Fans took to the /r/GameofThrones subreddit to discuss this possible easter egg.
We can totally see the connection, but let's be honest -- it's a tenuous one. Fans of both universes can celebrate the beautiful randomness of two worlds colliding, but look no further than that.
