All 16 teams are Horror Movies | Adult Movies Onlinelocked in for ELeague Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Season 2 after the final preliminary matches concluded Thursday.
SEE ALSO: 5 upcoming esports tournaments we can't wait to check outThe Americas teams that qualified are SK Gaming, Immortals, Echo Fox and OpTic Gaming, and the European teams are G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, Team Dignitas and Alternate Attax. They join the top eight teams from Season 1: champions Virtus.pro, Fnatic, Astralis, Mousesports, Cloud9, Na'Vi, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team EnVyUs.
SK Gaming may be the favorite going into Season 2 as long as the team stays healthy. The current members of SK Gaming won ESL One Cologne in July and were the top team in ELeague Season 1 until they were disqualified for moving to a new organization (they were playing under Luminosity Gaming until July 1). Player Fer was out for about a month and the team was not performing too well, but now that Fer's back in action the team is dominating again.
Some other strong teams coming into the tournament are Cloud9, G2 Esports and Ninjas and Pyjamas. G2 Esports and Ninjas and Pyjamas have both been performing very well the past month, with Ninjas in Pyjamas winning StarSeries Season 2 in early September with a stand-in player. Cloud9 is currently sitting at the top of the North American region in ESL Pro League Season 4.
The group stage runs from Oct. 21 through Nov. 19, when teams split up into four groups of four for double elimination competition. Two teams from each group will move on to the playoffs in Atlanta, which run from Nov. 29 through Dec. 3. All the action will be broadcast on Twitch, with showcase matches on TBS every Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
This season of ELeague is a bit more truncated than the first season, only lasting about six weeks from group stages to finals as opposed to 10 weeks. ELeague is also following Valve's new competitive rule that disallows coaches from being present during play, so teams with strong coaches like Mousesports and Virtus.pro may have a difficult time keeping up their quality of play without that voice in their ears.
ELeague is owned by Turner Broadcasting, which also is an investor inMashable.
