Netflix isn't kidding about its commitment to diversity; not only does the platform boast stories about a mix of genders,vintage erotice sexual orientations, and races, but the Netflix team strives for diversity behind the camera, too -- like by getting film star Lucy Liu to direct the first episode of Luke CageSeason 2.

Liu currently stars on CBS's Elementaryas Dr. Joan Watson, and has two film releases this year. She has directed four episodes of Elementarysince it premiered in 2014.
“When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof Director,” said executive producer Jeph Loeb. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage2.”
