The vulnerability, known as BlueBorne, was discovered by security research firm Armis. The researchers were able to infiltrate a Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy phones, an LG Sports Watch, and a car audio system by attacking Bluetooth, according to the report. The researchers were able to remotely steal data from the devices and take control of their cameras.

A BlueBorne attack only takes about 10 seconds, and can crack a Bluetooth-enabled device even if it's not connected to anything.
Armis says that Microsoft, Google, and Linux will fix the problem in their newest patches. But the discovery underscores the importance of vigilance in an increasingly connected and wireless world. While the use of Bluetooth and smart devices provides comfort and convenience, those luxuries aren't without risk. It's now more important than ever to keep your devices up to date, and to pay close attention to which functions are enabled. So seriously, stop leaving Bluetooth on.
