Spam be My Sex Doll Bodyguard (2020)gone!
Apple is working on a fix for all the spammy iCloud calendar invitations that some iPhone users have been receiving over the last few weeks.
SEE ALSO: iOS 10.1.1 update is causing iPhone battery issues"We are sorry that some of our users are receiving spam calendar invitations. We are actively working to address this issue by identifying and blocking suspicious senders and spam in the invites being sent," Apple told iMore.
Most of the calendar invitations originate from sketchy Chinese email accounts and promise to offer discounts on brand name products such as Uggs or Ray-Bans.
For your own safety, don't accept the invites and do not click on any links that may be included. It's most likely a phishing attempt to steal your personal information.
Though Apple says it's in the process of blocking suspicious email addresses and a fix is on the way, there are a few ways to prevent the annoying notifications.
As Mashableapps reporter Karissa Bell advises:
Don't decline the invitations, as that will just alert the sender your email is linked to an active account.
Change your calendar settings so that invitations are sent as emails and not device iPhone notifications
Create a "junk" calendar just for these spammy invites
These tips won't make the iCloud calendar spam stop entirely, but do help reduce the amount of unwanted notifications until Apple releases its fix.
